High Fidelity honours Linn Records
03 December 2008
The Polish audiophile publication High Fidelity has awarded the title ‘Best Recording 2008' to three Linn Records recordings! ‘The Devil's Trill' by Palladians, Pamela Thorby and Andrew Lawrence-King's ‘Garden of Early Delights' and Dunedin Consort's ‘JS Bach Matthew Passion (Final performing version, c. 1742)' have all been honoured with the award.
Dunedin Consort's performance of Bach's masterpiece was released in Easter 2008 to great critical acclaim. Following on from the consort's double award-winning ‘Messiah', ‘Matthew Passion' did not disappoint. As High Fidelity stated when presenting the recording with the award, "What a wonderful interpretation!".
Pamela Thorby and Andrew Lawrence-King treated music lovers to a delightful selection of renaissance and early-baroque pieces in the summer of 2008. Receiving numerous outstanding reviews ‘Garden of Early Delights' was praised for its freshness and exuberance whilst High Fidelity stated "Two instruments only but, oh-so much delight!".
Palladians, the formerly known Palladian Ensemble, delighted early music lovers with a recording of works by Giuseppe Tartini and Francesco Maria Veracini. ‘The Devil's Trill' included the infamous work by Tartini and several lesser-known works by the composers. "Everything is alive..." quoted High Fidelity.
These awards are fantastic news not only for the musicians, but for Linn Records also. Linn Records strives to produce recordings which are superior in sound, which High Fidelity has praised not only once, but three times!
