Carol Kidd returns with new studio album
22 August 2008
Linn Records is delighted to announce the forthcoming new album by the legendary Carol Kidd. "Dreamsville" marks her 25th year with the label and is her first album in seven years.
Carol Kidd is well known for her impeccable phrasing and delivery and for her innate ability to breathe fresh life into jazz standards. "Dreamsville" showcases American Songbook favourites as well as previously unrecorded original songs.
Carol Kidd's performances of Gershwin, Rogers & Hart, Irving Berlin and Henry Mancini classics sees the singer deliver a masterclass in interpretation and shows why she is considered ‘a singer's singer'. Carol has co-written two new tracks with guitarist Nigel Clark: There Goes My Heart and Do You Believe?. Both take the listener on an emotional and intimate journey proving Carol's skills as a writer as well as a world-class performer.
Dreamsville" also includes a re-working of Carol's most famous signature song When I Dream arranged by Nigel Clark and Wet Wet Wet's Graeme Duffin.
The album is enhanced by an excellent production team of Graeme Duffin (producer) and Calum Malcolm (mixer). The musicians include up and coming artists Paul Harrison and Alyn Cosker, while Mario Caribe of Salsa Celtica and Nigel Clark of the Scottish Guitar Quartet are old favourites with audiences.
"Dreamsville" is due for release on 20th October 2008. Excerpts from all twelve tracks are available to listen to exclusively at www.linnrecords.com.
